Health Care Data Analytics vs Health Informatics
Both health care data analysts and health informaticists conduct important work for health care systems. However, these roles interact differently with data and the skills and degrees needed to excel in them vary.
While someone with a health informatics master’s degree might evaluate technology and implement a system to collect data, individuals with master’s degrees in health care data analytics are trained to investigate data to find patterns and meaning that can be used for high-level decision-making.
Health informaticists plan for and administer health information technology (IT) systems while health care data analysts analyze the data collected by those systems to make educated decisions.
